  2. Went to Daniel Morgan back in May. Got a key to all the cabins and the kitchen and dining hall from the Hard Labor Creek park office. The camp looks pretty much the same as in the movie. The main differences are that the cabins are now gray instead of brown and a lot of the trees have been cleared. It looks way more wooded in the movie. Spooky place even in broad daylight! I figured out that the dining hall was actually the building used for the girls cabin and NOT the other end of the building used for the boys cabin as some have said. In the movie, the girls cabin has a fireplace. There is no fireplace in the building that served as the boys cabin on either end. In fact it is my opinion that the dining hall was actually used for the interior of both the girls and boys cabins and that the building used for the boys cabin was only used an an exterior shot to make you believe there were two separate cabins. In the movie, notice when Sheriff Garris runs into Nancy outside the boys cabin. The boys are all standing outside on the steps with the door open and you can clearly see that there are no beds inside the cabin. The Sheriff then leads them up toward the dining hall (girls cabin). This is a very cool place to visit. A must for any Friday the 13th fan!

  3. Went to the Camp last night with my wife for a "Under the Moon Kayak Tour"! The Kayak guide took us to the dock of this famous scene from Friday the 13th Part 6. I was in heaven! As an 80's Horror movie fan, it did not get any better. I plan on going back to Camp Daniel Morgan to take pics during the day. I suggest any fan of the series to take the Kayak Tour that the park offers. The tour guide shows you lots of historical spots and is very informative!

    1. I just got back a couple of weeks ago. There was an event held there where we camped, screened the movie onsite, and played camp games over the weekend. Was a great weekend! Can't wait to go back.

    3. I do that Myers House On Set Cinema camping event every year at Camp Daniel Morgan. It is a blast. You should do it this year, I would love to connect with the person who runs this site. Be on the lookout for tickets, they will be for sale soon. The event this year will take place on Friday the 13th in October.

  7. When visiting the camp, do indeed go to the Hard Labor Creek office. It's easy to find as there are several signs directing you to it when you enter the park. Not only can you get a key to every building at Camp Daniel Morgan BUT ALSO ASK FOR A SITE MAP of the camp!!! It will show you everything, including a tiny walking trail through the woods that leads to the outdoor "amphitheater" where the kids were shouting, "YES!" to the question, "Does he think I'm a fart head?" It's tough to find without a site map. Plus it's just a good souvenir of your visit.

    1. Inside Hard Labor Creek State Park - if you go to the park office, they’ll give you the keys (if the Camp isn’t already reserved for something that weekend) and directions. If you put Camp Daniel Morgan in Google Maps, it’ll take you to the front drive of the Camp. It’s gated but the park office will give you the code as well.

  9. I think I got it now. Looks familiar in the pictures the picnic area and road to the campsite, IF it's the correct one I think I went with a group of people from Atlanta Job Corps Center back in 1996. I think we had a bomb threat at that time so they took a bunch of us in a bus to the camp site, All I can really remember is the trail walk and if I am talking about the correct one there were signs posted at one part of the lake "NO SWIMMING ALLOWED" I wished I took pictures but I never did but I do remember being inside the building where the picnic tables were and being no doors and there were windoes. Cabins were off limits to go inside they were either being cleaned after campers went home. I really don't remember a whole lot it's been a really long time.

  10. They used the same camp for a few shots in Netflix's Fear Street: 1978. The entrance of the camp and a few shots of the docks, if I recall correctly.

  11. According to Thom Matthews, who played Tommy Jarvis, the fake cemetery where he digs up Jason in the intro of the movie was built 30 minutes away from the real cemetery in the woods off of Fairplay Road in Rutledge. You wouldn't be able to tell from Google Maps, but these are the Coordinates - 33.680006, -83.591913

  12. Went to Camp Daniel Morgan back in 2015 and looked inside everything since I was given the keys. It is sad that some of the cabins, particulary the boys/girls cabin. It was falling apart. According to one of the rangers who is still there in the park where the camp is, they had photos to show some of the film that were allowed to be taken. The boys/girls cabin is the same cabin on both sides. Both sides had a dual fireplace, however the girls side was removed for safety in 2012 due to the condition of the cabin. They planned on taking down the other side and leaving the divider wall up at some ppint. According to the ranger they may eventually tear that one cabin down due to its condition.. The paintball scenes we were told were also shot in the wooded area of the camp grounds as well as Darren and Elizabeth getting stuck in their car. The road before the camp entrance was where most of the car scenes and flipping of camper was done which now looks completely unfamiliar. The actual ranger station is also an RV park where Cort and Sissy was parked for their scene. Originally there were only about 10 to 20 RV hookups at that time and no miniature gold course, but after the filming they expanded to nearly 50 total hookup locations and added the miniature gold course and rebuilt the ranger station. The cemetery looks as if it is sadly falling apart. It is near difficult at that point to pinpoint where Jason's grave was, but with the movie on our phones via Vudu it looks as if it is closer to the entrance where all the gated plots were located. The coolest thing was the ranger that had the photos, not many or things, and how nice they all were just because we asked unlike some who just ventured back without asking. He jokingly said we could rent a cabin at the camp during camping season. Has anyone heard the rumor that the tree with the carved Happy Face may still be standing to this day? According to the ranger it is located in the wooded area of the camp somewhere.
